Episode 576: Honoring Homeschool Pioneer Sam Blumenfeld Who Would Have Turned 100.

May 31, 2026 would have been my friend and mentor’s 100 birthday. Sam went to be with the Lord on June 1, 2015-a day after his 89th birthday. Sam’s last book which he co-authored with Alex Newman was Crimes of the Educators. A week prior to Sam’s passing, I called Alex and asked when he was planning on visiting Sam. They had not yet met in person but frequently met on conference calls. Alex said that he planned a summer visit. I told him that he most likely won’t be alive by then. We provided an airline ticket for him, and he flew to Boston on the following day, Thursday. I had hoped to videotape an interview of the two of them, but Sam’s condition had deteriorated, and it would have been an injustice to him. They interacted as if they were lifelong friends. Alex, like numerous others, is carrying on the work of Sam.

Sam Blumenfeld was born on May 31, 1926, in New York City. His parents were Polish immigrants. His mother, who Sam adored, was illiterate. Sam attended a public school in the Bronx where he received an excellent education. Sam was a World War II veteran serving in an artillery unit in Italy. He participated in a prisoner escort where he took pity on a starving German soldier and shared his food with him. After the war, Sam graduated from City College of New York. He returned to postwar Europe visiting some friends he made during the war and returned to the U.S. to start a career in the publishing business. Sam was fluent in several languages. In 1963, he traveled to Madrid, Spain to interview Dr. Moise Tshombe, the pro-Western leader of Katanga who was ousted by the United Nations peacekeepers who committed atrocities against the civilian population and replaced by the Moscow trained Patrice Lamumba.

It was while he was an editor for Grosset and Dunlop when he got a request from a friend Attorney and Hall of Fame tennis player Watson Washburn to join his reading reform organization which he recently started. Sam was surprised by the request telling Mr. Washburn that reading was a basic thing you learned in elementary school. Mr. Washburn suggested that Sam read the book Why Johnny Can’t Read by Rudolf Flesch. The book changed Sam’s life. Flesch pointed out that the look-say or whole word method was introduced to the nation’s schools in the mid to late 1930s. The Depression made it difficult for most schools to buy the new look-say books but by the mid-1940s most schools around the nation adopted this method of reading. It

The LORD has provided me a very powerful testimony of deliverance and healing. I've endured a very dark life consisting of molestation, sex-trafficking, prostitution, gender confusion, rape, homosexuality and other sexual addictions & perversion, as well as alcohol, drugs, gambling, etc...

But GOD... HE healed me while I was on my deathbed with full blown AIDS, no immune system, several infections in my brain & blood, progressive Osteoporosis, diabetes, various mental issues, etc...

I was sexually abused from a very young age. I became a sex addict before I even hit puberty. I also suffered from gender DYSphoria (confusion) as a result of the abuse. I was the suicidal transkid that is always brought up in the debates & discussions meant to promote the TransQueer agenda. I overdosed at age 13 in an attempt to end my misery. I was a runaway prostitute that contracted HIV/AIDS at age 14. In & out of jail, psych wards, and prison; I ended up on my deathbed by age 37. The doctors gave me less than 3 months to live, and I was sent home to die. That was in 2009. But GOD!!

Let me also say this... the suicidal ideation of those who claim they are trans-identified is emotional blackmail! I was that suicidal transkid, but what they do not tell you is that you go from being a suicidal transkid to being a suicidal transadult because affirmation, puberty blockers, wrong-sex hormones, inclusivity, transition, acceptance, diversity, equity do NOT take away depression, confusion, angst, trauma, or suicidal ideation!

With my body weakening in the hospital bed that was placed in my home, and as hospice came in and took care of me, I recognized that I was afraid to die. I instantly knew that I was afraid to die because I did not want to go to hell, and I knew hell was not only what I deserved for all of the horrible things I'd done, but that it was exactly where I was heading. I cried out to GOD in desperation. I received clarity, and understand that GOD was not sending me to hell, but merely honoring my choice to go there.

After opening a Bible, being convicted, and seeking The FATHER, I spent weeks repenting and praying to become a Child of HIS! I woke up one morning, in excruciating pain, but with an incredible Peace. It is what I call my "Moment of Grace." I felt Peace like I'd never experienced. I knew that I was free! Free of gender confusion! Free of the sexual, emotional and even the physical addictions, strongholds, and perversions, as well as the weight of sin that held me captive! GOD Almighty gave me clarity.

I still believed I was going to die, but I was no longer afraid of death. I was actually at Peace with dying, and so I began praying that through my death others would come to know the Truth as well.

My call is to tell of the Freedom from addictions, strongholds and even habits; how, in this process, I was allowed to see, with clarity, that I was created male and could never change that; that it was my circumstances & trauma that perverted a very natural desire for male validation into what we know as same-sex attraction. Episode 568: Old Ironsides-the USS Constitution Olver Wendell Holmes Sr. and His Dissenting Son

"Old Ironsides" is the nickname of the three-masted frigate USS Constitution.

Constructed in 1797, its hull was made of 21-inch-thick planks of very dense Southern Live Oak.

During the War of 1812, the crew of British ship HMS Guerriere observed their cannonballs bouncing off the USS Constitution and exclaimed that its sides must be made of iron.

Muslim Barbary Pirates of North Africa had captured many American ships: Betsey, Dauphin, Dispatch, Hope, Jane, Jay, Maria, Mary, Minerva, Olive Branch, Oswego, Philadelphia, Polly, President, Sophia, and Thomas, among others.

The captured crews were stripped, chained, paraded through the streets, and sold into slavery.

When the American ship Polly was captured in 1793, the Barbary captain chided the crew and imprisoning them:

“... for your history and superstition in believing in a man who was crucified by the Jews and disregarding the true doctrine of God’s last and greatest prophet, Mohammed.”

Dr. Max Lyons served as teacher and administrator in three Christian schools since 1979. He has served as Principal at the elementary, middle and high school levels, and was the Head Administrator and CFO at StoneBridge School. He has extensive experience in all aspects of Christian School management, including curriculum development, teacher professional development, recruiting and admissions, fundraising, business management, board development, and guidance and counseling. Max is a teacher, coach, curriculum writer, consultant, and conference speaker, specializing in the areas of Bible, history, government, economics, and Biblical worldview. Dear Sir;

My friend, Ed Peterson, over at Wells Iowa,
received a check for $1,000 from the government for not
raising hogs. So, I want to go into the "not raising
hogs" business next year.

What I want to know is, in your opinion, what is the
best kind of farm not to raise hogs on, and what is the
best breed of hogs not to raise? I want to be sure that
I approach this endeavor in keeping with all
governmental policies. I would prefer not to raise
razorbacks, but if that is not a good breed not to
raise, then I will just as gladly not raise Yorkshires
or Poland Chinas.

As I see it, the hardest part of this program will be in
keeping an accurate inventory of how many hogs I haven't
raised.

My friend, Peterson, is very joyful about the future of
the business. He has been raising hogs for twenty years
or so, and the best he ever made on them was $422 in
1968, until this year when he got your check for $1000
for not raising hogs.

If I get $1000 for not raising 50 hogs, will I get $2000
for not raising 100 hogs? I plan to operate on a small
scale at first, holding myself down to about 4000 hogs
not raised, which will mean about $80,000 the first
year. Then I can afford an airplane.

Now another thing, these hogs I will not raise will not
eat 100,000 bushels of corn. I understand that you also
pay farmers for not raising corn and wheat. Will I
qualify for payments for not raising wheat and corn not
to feed the 4000 hogs I am not going to raise?

Also, I am considering the "not milking cows" business,
so send me any information you have on that too.

In view of these circumstances, you understand that I
will be totally unemployed and plan to file for
unemployment and food stamps.
Be assured you will have my vote in the coming election.

Abigail is a Gospel singer-songwriter-musician from Maine. She enjoys working in her studio (Throne Music), doing graphic design, teaching music lessons, working on local outreach projects with her family, and getting involved in political efforts with the vision of seeing the nation restored to a state of righteousness and freedom under God and the U.S. Constitution.

She is very grateful to have been given a strong Christian heritage. Her whole family enjoys singing Gospel music, playing instruments, and memorizing Scripture together.

In March of 2020 Abigail released her debut vocal album of songs she wrote, titled Strength Upon the Wind.
And in December 2024, the long-awaited album, Whiter Than Snow was released. This recording brings a simple, fresh approach to both Gospel classics and new releases and centers around the theme of purity, holiness, & joy in Jesus.

From her first piano lesson as a toddler with Mom to listening to good old-fashioned Southern Gospel music all through her childhood to performing concerts with her family and trying her hand at songwriting as a teenager, music has played and continues to play a major role in Abigail’s life and that of her family.
